The Llandudno Vikings take on ‘The Big Sleepout’ for Conwy Mind!
The Llandudno Vikings are known for their challenging fundraisers, and their latest fundraiser is certainly no exception!
For 28 nights in February Nathan Midgley and Marcus Williams will be sleeping on the streets of Llandudno all to raise money for Conwy Mind and Hope Restored. With just cardboard for a bed and their sleeping bags they will be braving all the elements the UK weather throws at them! Throughout their month of sleeping under the stars they will be joined by fellow Vikings – Phil Kendal, Sam Midgley-Davies, Murod Samadov, Jamie Mills, Dave Parrish, Dryden Jones, Gerwyn Lewis & Tom Jolley.
In true Vikings style they’re challenging themselves even further and on Saturday 17th February they will be sleeping at the Summit of Snowdon with their mascot Godfrey the Camel! Walking up Snowdon is a challenge in itself let alone dressed as a camel and then trying to settle down for an uncomfortable nights sleep!
Nathan, who owns the Tynedale Hotel in Llandudno, said:
We wanted to do something challenging to raise awareness of homelessness and mental health issues. We also wanted to raise money for two charities that do fantastic work in our community.
The Vikings are certainly doing just that as their fundraiser is being talked about far and wide and they’ve already raised an incredible £7,700!!
We are so grateful to be one of the chosen charities and when our Fundraising Officer Nikki went to meet Nathan and the team she could see how passionate they are about making a difference to their local community. Even after many uncomfortable nights sleep they’re all still smiling, laughing and eager to do more!
The big sleep out is the latest in a long line of successful fundraising events by the Llandudno Vikings. They are a credit to their community and their hard work will make a real difference to the lives of people in need.
