Claire

Trustee

I joined the board of Conwy Mind in April 2023. Mental Health is an area close to my heart due to my own lived experience, as an individual and mother. I find it rewarding to be able to give back to my local community by sharing my skills and experiences.

I work as a professional coach, specialising in executive and neuro-diversity coaching.  Prior to this I gained extensive experience in leadership and management roles within a large market research organisation.

Outside of work I love spending time with my family and friends, relaxing by being in nature and taking on the odd house renovation project! My two energetic children keep me busy, so I use those precious few hours of “me time” trying to advance my Pilates skills.

Carolyn

Trustee

I have always volunteered but being a trustee with Conwy Mind is very close to my heart. I have now been a trustee for three years. I really want to contribute in a way that helps to promote mental health and offer timely high-quality interventions.

I worked as a general nurse, and later as a Clinical Psychologist in the NHS for around 30 years. I specialised in working with children and adolescents with mental health difficulties. Now retired, I offer supervision and teaching to mental health services.

I have been married for 25 years, and have a 26 year old son. I enjoy keeping fit and have a busy social life. I enjoy the arts and music, play the saxophone (badly!) and sing with the Rock Choir.

Jacky

Trustee

I joined the board of Conwy Mind in 2019 as I felt I had the skills and experience to offer at what was a very difficult time for Conwy Mind, when the CEO needed a significant input to make changes necessary to turn the situation around.

I started my career in the statutory sector in DWP. Undertook training in HR and later as a trainer achieving CIPD qualifications in both. I have worked in both the private sector as a HR Manager and the 3rd sector as Project Manager with my final carer move to Alzheimer’s Society as Operations Manager.

I have lived on West shore for the last 4 years and am now moving back to be closer to family, in particular my 2 granddaughters.

Ruth

Trustee

I have been involved in the voluntary sector for over 50 years, and have been with Conwy Mind as a trustee for eighteen months. Mental health is something that has had an impact on my family. I’m keen to drive improvements to ensure people get the service they need when they need it.

I worked in post 16 education for over 35 years, I have extensive knowledge and experience in the special educational needs sector, including mental health. I am currently Company Secretary for a mental health / arts CIC in Oswestry.

I am a keen gardener. I enjoy swimming although a jacuzzi is my favourite place. There is nothing better though than spending time with my three children and grandchildren both locally in Conwy and in the USA.

Carol

Trustee Chair

I joined Conwy Mind in 2017, initially as a volunteer, joining the board in August 2019.

Having volunteered for a number of charities over the years I know what an important role they play in supporting the most vulnerable in society and am proud to be part of a charity which offers high quality interventions to those in need.

I spent many years as a systems analyst/project manager coming to the third sector via the USA, where I worked with a number of charities supporting people with mental health issues. On returning to the UK I worked with The Richmond Fellowship, a charity supporting adults with enduring Mental Health issues.

I am married and live with my husband and two stubborn, but loving, Westies. I am interested in the arts, particularly music and art

Robin

Trustee

I have been involved with Mind since about 1986, which seems an awful long time ago!

I got involved all those years ago when the old Victorian hospitals were closing, and it was clear that the NHS and local councils could not provide enough support for people in the community. The welfare of those experiencing psychological distress has always been close to my heart and supporting Conwy Mind seems a natural way to help.

My professional background is as a nurse and general manager in the NHS from which I retired in 2009.

I love to spend time with my family and with our two dogs, Bryn and Beth. Walking on the beach and in the mountains are some of my favourite times. I have also been a keen rugby fan for all my life and still enjoy watching my local team on Saturday afternoon, when I get time

Michael

Trustee Vice Chair

I have been a trustee with Conwy Mind for some two years. I am a strong believer in mental health promotion, prevention and recovery. This is something Conwy Mind is in a great position to do

I have a background in psychology having worked in the NHS. As a trustee my aim is to ensure Conwy Mind can help people suffering from mental health problems, so as they can lead fulfilling lives and contribute to society.

My family and I live in Conwy County. We love the area, making the most of the sea and mountains.

Emma Bell-Davies

Trustee

I joined the board of Conwy Mind in December 2024.

I have extensive volunteering experience with advisory boards from the Wales Regional Board of the Chartered Managers Institute to BeTheBusiness advisory boards for new start-ups. I’m looking forward to bringing my skills and experience to a local community-based charity in the region I have lived most of my life.

In my day job I work with adult employed learners who are undertaking their apprenticeship qualifications in Leadership and Management in various industries. I coach senior leaders to develop themselves and their businesses. Prior to this I worked in the energy industry for ~20 years in various roles both locally and supporting overseas enterprises.

I am married and live with my husband and son and our Australian Cobberdog called Monty. I love the outdoors and at every opportunity am in the water swimming or walking up mountains!

Mike Owen

Trustee

I was thrilled to join the Board of Conwy Mind in December 2024. I spent my working life as an accountant and senior manager in the public sector and now that I’m retired I am very keen to use my skills and experience to help others.

I am very aware of the impact that mental health can have on people’s lives, for better and for worse. I want to do everything I can to help Conwy Mind to promote good mental health and to deliver the best possible services for people who experience difficulties in this area of their lives.

I live in Gwynedd with my wife and we love experiencing the amazing culture, food, mountains and coast of North Wales. I particularly enjoy boating, rugby, DIY, travel and the arts.

Guto Davies

Trustee

I am extremely proud to have joined the board of trustees of Conwy Mind in December 2024 and hope to bring a deeply personal perspective to my work with Conwy Mind. Having faced my own mental health challenges, I am passionate about breaking the continued stigma surrounding mental health and hope to ensure that people in need have access to the support and community they deserve.

I am a public affairs and policy professional with over a decade of experience in senior leadership roles across parliamentary offices, arms-length bodies, and membership organisations. I currently work a Director of Policy, leading work on policy development, advocacy, and stakeholder engagement across the UK.

As a trustee, I am to leverage my professional expertise and personal passion to support the charity’s mission of empowering individuals to achieve better mental health.
