The Happy Mind Hikers complete Camino de Santiago!
Paula and Kerri AKA The Happy Mind Hikers set themselves a huge challenge & we are thrilled to announce they have completed it!
On July 13th Paula and Kerri hopped on a plane and headed to Spain to complete Camino de Santiago, a 117km hike across Spain! Starting at Ferrol and ending in the famous Santiago de Compostela; they had one long journey ahead of them! The Happy Mind Hikers set off with only a bag on their backs and kept us up to date every day with how they were getting on! It was clear to see that some days were super challenging, they were facing soaring temperatures, steep inclines and sore feet! But what remained consistent throughout their journey was their positivity, every update they highlighted the positives and the things they enjoyed most that day, from butterflies to singing they really appreciated the little things!
When asked about their fundraising challenge, Paula said..
The hike was both physically and mentally challenging but they pushed on and managed to raise an incredible £1,214.42 (including Gift Aid) for Conwy Mind. Paula and Kerri should be so proud of themselves, taking on such a huge challenge, all to raise money for those struggling with their mental health in Conwy. We are so grateful of their support! If you would like to donate to the Happy Mind Hikers, their page is still active and can be found here: Happy Mind Hikers Fundraising Page!“We totally underestimated how hard the Camino was going to be! It was tough but so worth the effort! For me, switching off from technology and walking in nature is one of the best things I can do for my own mental health. It gives me time to slow down and appreciate the small things. This trip certainly did that! We learnt a lot along ’the way’ and we are over-the-moon to have raised over £1000 for Conwy Mind.”
